In 2008 Nyumba supported the Anti-Child Labour project run by
students at Bunda Agricultural College in Chipoka, Salima.

The project worked with families where children were at high risk of dropping out of school and entering the work force. Bunda student volunteers went to live in the village for 6 months. They worked with the families to set up income generating schemes, such as goat rearing and vegetable gardens, and taught the families the importance of supporting their children to attend school rather than encouraging them to work. The volunteers worked with the children to give them extra lessons. Many had missed significant amounts of schooling already.

The project was a great success. The students at Bunda continue to monitor the progress of the families they worked with.
